I do think Nintendo is in the "crosshairs" I wonder what approach they will/would take if it came to a relality?

yes and no, I'm not too concerned with the high development cost because it is both good and bad news. You can look at in other ways
1.) It will stop developers from making a shyt title for some quick cash and short changing us gamers. It's quality over guantity
2.) Sony has great first party (and awkwardly put 2nd party) support who make AAA titles.

It's been a slow newsweek so that is why we are getting these types of stories, analyst opinions and ect. I guess they want the ruffle some featers and keep their sites moving. Real news is going to "HEAT" up at or around late Aug. as TGS approaches.

My personal opinion is that Sony just needs to stay on course and let the games speak for themselves. Sony has alot of games up their sleve (Lair, DMC4, Killzone to name a few)

I feel that "any" game cancelled is bad news for gamers. Mostly because even if the game doesn't appeal to me it appeals to someone else. Good news is that it isn't any AAA titles being canned that would be awful.

Well if you look at it as a $500 investment instead of an automatic $600 one($600 is for the hardcore gamers and people who have the money to justify such and investment) it would make more sense. As for me when I bought my 360 I went and bought the $400 verison because I wanted a full-on Next-Gen console out of the box. Why would I pay $300 plus $100 later plus another $50 for the wireless controller? that is just giving away money and all the while I can't even take advantage of the best feature of the 360 which is XBL? That's just my opinion, I understand what you are saying but the same people who play games...

Just because they didn't BUY doesn't mean they didn't play. People do rent (with sites like gamefly this is becoming bigger and bigger these days.) People do borrow games from friends. Why do you base you ENTIRE argument on the "purchase" of games? Those numbers don't even included how many times the game was resold as used. But my view on a Next-Gen console is one that has wireless controllers and at HDD (included because we all know that the 360 is nothing with it's great XBL) at the very least. Yes it can be upgraded but that makes the price higher. So what your telling me is a 360 that can't take full advantage of XBL and comes with no wireless controller is Next-Gen?

Sony is pulling out all the stops on BC now! Great idea, less clutter and an all in one PS3 and no reason to not pick up some AAA titles (God of war 2 and FF12) for PS2. Just what the doctor ordered
